Pharmacy Technician / Patient Navigator

With close to 25 years of industry excellence, Quick RX is expanding its pharmacy operations and growing its team. The Pharmacy Technician/Patient Navigator plays a crucial role in facilitating communication and collaboration between healthcare providers, patients, and specialty pharmacy. They serve as a key point of contact, providing expertise and support to ensure seamless coordination of specialty medication services. The liaison works closely with various stakeholders to optimize patient care, enhance medication adherence, and improve overall treatment outcomes while supporting pharmacy operations when assistance is required.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary liaison between healthcare providers, patients, and specialty pharmacy, ensuring effective communication and coordination throughout the medication management process.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to identify patients who require specialty medications and assist in the prescription and referral process.
- Assist patients with insurance verification, prior authorization, and reimbursement support, collaborating with specialty pharmacy and insurance providers to resolve any issues.
- Coordinate with patients to ensure timely delivery of medications, address any issues or delays, and provide ongoing support to patients.
- Stay updated on the latest advancements in specialty medications, treatment guidelines, and insurance requirements, sharing relevant information with healthcare providers and patients as appropriate.
- Organize medications for pharmacists to dispense by reading medication orders and prescriptions, preparing labels, and calculating quantities.
- Monitor patient refill requests and fulfill them accordingly based on patient requirements.
- Assist in filling prescriptions when required to support the Supervising Pharmacist and/or Pharmacy Technician.
Qualifications:
- Proficiency with Micro-Merchant (PrimeRx) software systems (preferred).
- Demonstrated track record of 3-5 years as a Pharmacy Technician in a pharmacy setting.
- In-depth knowledge of specialty medications, including their indications, administration techniques, potential side effects, and management strategies.
- Familiarity with insurance and reimbursement processes related to specialty medications, including prior authorization and patient assistance programs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate and build relationships with healthcare providers, patients, and pharmacy teams.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, ensuring accurate documentation and timely follow-up on patient-related activities.
- Ability to work independently and proactively to identify and address potential issues or barriers to medication access and adherence.
- Proficient computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Req’d: 2+ years pharmacy technician experience; 1+ year Micro-Merchant (PrimeRx); ability to commute to Fort Lauderdale, FL 33304.
