How does Ampyra work?

Ampyra doesn’t treat MS itself—it targets walking problems to help you move more easily. In MS, the protective coating around nerves, called myelin, gets damaged. This damage causes nerve signals to slow down or get lost, making it harder to move your muscles. One reason for this is that potassium leaks out of the damaged nerves, weakening the signals.

Ampyra works by blocking potassium leaks in the nerve fibers, which helps the signals travel more smoothly from your brain to your muscles. It’s like repairing a frayed electrical wire so the current flows better.
