2nd Annual MS Focus on Fashion

November 14, 2025 | Westin Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort

On Friday, November 14, 2025, the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation (MS Focus) held its 2nd Annual MS Focus on Fashion at the Westin Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort—and what a night it was. Presented by Novartis, the event brought together nearly 250 guests to celebrate adaptive fashion and raise more than $100,000 to support people living with MS.

Thirteen incredible individuals with MS took to the runway, modeling adaptive designs by Nancy Volpe Beringer and Magna-Ready. With help from their escorts—Ron Magill from Zoo Miami and Kimba Schnickelfritz of 105.9 FM—some models traveled from as far as Michigan to participate. Whether local or not, all absolutely lit up the runway.

Guests kicked off the evening with a lively cocktail hour featuring wine from Gemma di Luna Wines, vodka from Tito’s Handmade Vodka, delicious hors d’oeuvres, and plenty of mingling. People lined up for the 360-degree photo booth, posed in front of the step-and-repeat, and greeted old friends while settling into the festive mood.

Julie Guy of 101.5 Lite FM returned as host for the second year in a row. She welcomed everyone with a toast led by MS Focus Board Vice President, Mark Shalloway of Shalloway & Shalloway, P.A., and Dr. Anil Vedula of Your Eye Specialists—cheers made all the better with prosecco from Gemma di Luna Wines. Board Member Kara Skorupa also shared a few celebratory moments, recognizing two engagements within the MS Focus family and honoring three long-time employees who have dedicated twenty-five years to the Foundation.

The Sean Giblin Memorial Award

A highlight of the evening was the introduction of the brand-new Sean Giblin Memorial Award. Sean was an extraordinary young man diagnosed with MS at sixteen who poured his heart into MS Focus’ “We Call, We Care” program—always ready with a kind word, a listening ear, or a much-needed laugh. His warmth and dedication led him to volunteer as a peer counselor and later to be hired as the program coordinator of the “We Call, We Care” program, all while working toward a degree in social work. Though Sean passed away in December 2023 due to complications from MS, his spirit continues to inspire everyone who knew him.

MS Focus was proud to present the first-ever award to Nicole Pedra—an actress, model, and passionate MS advocate. Nicole, who also grew up living with MS, uses her platform to bring visibility to the disease through honest, heartfelt, and often humorous content. Her story deeply resonated with the audience; when she spoke on November 14, you could feel the emotion in the room.

Nicole’s work reflects one of the biggest challenges of MS: no two people experience it the same way. Symptoms vary dramatically and can change without warning, making connection and understanding more important than ever.

Auction & Runway Show

Guests also made a big impact through a lively live auction featuring items from A Spring of Hope, High Falutin’ Furry Babies, Diamonds Direct, A Touch of Spain & More, and the Red Meat Lovers Club. A silent auction of more than fifty items—many from local artists and businesses, including artwork created by some of the models—kept the excitement going. Neil and Trisha Saffer of Saffer & Company Auctioneers brought the energy up even higher with a spirited Call from the Heart.

The runway show itself was a crowd favorite. Tony and Dan, the men of the show, wore adaptive apparel by Magna-Ready, which replaces buttons and zippers with hidden magnetic closures—perfect for people dealing with dexterity challenges. Their fun, playful walk brought plenty of laughs as they showed off how easy the clothing is to use. The women were outfitted with stylish canes from Fashionable Canes, featuring different bases for added stability and flair.

The women also stunned in couture pieces by Project Runway designer Nancy Volpe Beringer. A leader in adaptive fashion, Volpe Beringer worked closely with each model to select looks from The Vault by Volpe Beringer, her collection of sustainable luxury designer clothing. Models Nicole, Maggie, Kim, Didi, Debi, Carlene, Barbara, Phoebe, Ayesa, Teri, and Jennifer each brought something unique to the runway—and every one of them shined.
